Back to School with Billy

The Moorooka State School Fete 90th Year Celebrations presents The Black Creek Band performing original, classic and modern Blues Rock songs including Billy Thorpe and The Aztecs. As many locals know,  Moorooka State School is not only heritage-listed, it also schooled a young Billy Thorpe who went on to become an iconic Australian  rock singer-songwriter, producer, and musician. We played through the evening’s celebrations and in keeping with the local theme threw in a few of Billy Thorpe’s hits as well.

Airlie Beach Festival of Music - Semi Finals

Made it to the Semi-Finals for the Airlie Beach Festival of Music

Humbling Feedback

We've managed to make it through to the Semi-Finals for the Airlie Beach Festival of Music on Sep 9th. After our performance we had a humbling review from Wayne who came to see us for the first time. "Had the privilege to hear the Black Creek Band play live at the Caloundra Power Boat Club this afternoon - BLOODY BRILLIANT. It is refreshing to find a band that plays original music and performs them in such an uncompromising manner. All too often these days I see bands with the members in competition with each other - the drummer plays too loud and the lead guitar plays loud over the vocals - this is NOT the case with The Black Creek Band - this is tight outfit of talented musicians with Richard out front taking it too the audience with his strong and uncompromising vocals - Richie is a natural front man. Cannot wait to hear this band again - an excellent rock band with a strong blues influence. Well done guys and thank you." Thank you Wayne.

Australian Radio Play

Our Australian Radio journey is indeed well on it's way. Here are the stations that have picked us up to play and/or keep in their station music library so far in May 2018. Know IDEA on 4ZZZ is playing our track Try. (We start at 2:04:00). Good Vibrations on 3RPP is playing our tracks Try, Black Creek Way and Riverman. 2PSR (Port Stephens FM 100.9) in NSW has added Try, Black Creek Way and Riverman to their station library and will  be played in The Hit List program. Blood, Sweat and Sports on 3WBC is playing our track Try (Drivetime slot on Fridays).

Crowd Review of Try

As a part of our social media profile, we decided to get a Reverbnation Crowd Review for our track “Try“. We were a bit deflated when we saw the ratings – 7.7 / 10 7.7? Really? Thats what’s we thought too. But upon a more thorough read it turns out that 7.7 is actually in the top 5% of all song reviews that Reverbnation has done. On top of that we are scheduled for a Reverbnation Homepage Feature!

“How many times has that back beat been used and it wasn’t enough? This time it is so pure and simple that it does work, very well in fact. Great choice of tone/effect/settings on the lead guitar. Totally throwback, but still sounds new enough. I just found out from their page that they are a cover band in Australia. They should know, that’s what it sounded like, what it should sound like, and could not be anymore authentic. Excellent job.”
